The absolutely amazing thing about the entire Tea Party Movement, which has grown exponentially, is the unity and deep conviction of those involved. The Tea Party movement is drawing people from all political stripes, social causes, and income brackets. It is drawing people who have never participated in any kind of political or grassroots movement before. What we have in common, and what holds us together, is a very deep love for the uniqueness of the United States of America, a desire for the limited government that our Founding Fathers created, a fairly “strict” interpretation of the Constitution, a belief in capitalism and free enterprise and a strong sense of personal responsibility. Tea Party Movement people are feeling an urgency. They are sensing that we must take action NOW, not next year.
We see ourselves as serving as a springboard for the people. We are a starting point. We are a powerful voice saying to all elected officials – local, regional, state and federal – “the government belongs to US the VOTER, the taxpayer, not you”. The incredible, laser-like power of the Tea Party movement is the lack of factions. We cannot be ignored. We are awake, angry, and activated. The issues and ideas that are at the core of the Hampton Roads Tea Party movement: 1) All forms of government must abide by the boundaries set forth in state and federal constitutions. 2) All pork and earmarks in the stimulus, omnibus bills, and bailouts must be reversed and repealed. The national budget must be balanced. Spending cuts, not increased taxation should be used to balance the budget. 3) Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness implies personal responsibility, not handouts, free-enterprise and capitalism, not government controlled economies. Some people choose to be irresponsible (and of course some fall on hard times due to circumstances), but it is not the responsibility of the general public, vis-a-vis government intervention, to guarantee or bailout irresponsibility and failure. Private individuals and organizations give out of compassion and generosity, not compulsion through taxation, laws, and pork barrel projects.
5) Excessive tax burdens kill prosperity. 6) Excessive national debt is generational theft, and stealing the future of our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 7) Neither major political party is “clean” on these issues. Both Democrats and Republicans have taxed excessively and neither have restrained the hand of government effectively. There are certainly individual representatives who have been faithful to their constituents and to the Constitution. However, too many are engaged in protecting their congressional positions and turf. The majority of government officials have insulated themselves from the people they serve, and hold themselves above the law. We are simply saying, “No, you aren’t above the law”. Stay within the Constitution, or we will retire you at the next election. 8 ) The American public at large is ignorant of the purpose of government, the founding documents such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Federalist Papers. As a result, they allow politicians to sell them false hope and “rights” and “entitlements” that are not guaranteed by the Constitution. By educating the American people on the foundations of our history, we hope to bring sanity to the election and legislative processes. 9) As a group, we are appalled at the audaciousness and arrogance of our government in the last few years, particularly the proposals and bills passed in the last few months, despite massive public disapproval. The Tea Party is a wake-up call to all Americans. And to the elected officials- watch out! Abide by the U.S. Constitution, the Constitution of your respective state, and your city charter- or we will not let you rest. Always remember: we the taxpayers and citizens are the employers. You serve at our discretion.

The Washington Post - Tens of thousands ABC News - 60,000 to 70,000 Pajamas Media - made a low-end estimate of 500,000 The Daily Mail - as many as 1,000,000 The D.C. subway system's records showed 136,000 more riders on Sept. 12 than the Saturday before. I am and have always been a fiscal (and political) conservative, and to see the wild spending spree that the Obama administration has set off has amazed and disappointed me. I am sick of seeing our government rape and pillage our childrens future! The will of the people is not being fullfilled. Healthcare reform shoved down our throats, bailouts of banks and corporations that do not deserve our money, earmarks in the bailout legislation for ACORN and other "special interest" groups. Constitutional laws being tossed aside or just blatently ignored. I am sure that Washington, Jefferson, and Reagan are all spinning in their graves right now. "WE THE PEOPLE" is not just the begining of a high school term paper, it is the first 3 words of our Constitution. It was purpously placed at the begining of our Constitution by Thomas Jefferson, because the people come FIRST! These legislators that have passed these laws, created this enormous debt, and added self serving earmarks are NOT doing their job! Their job is to do the WILL of the people, not the will of the president or Nancy Pelosi! It is time WE THE PEOPLE take back our government and make them do our will, instead of succombing to theirs. The TEA PARTY movement should become a political party and run it's own candidates for office! That is how we make our voice heard. report abuse

What do you call state owned & run industries, mandatory health care, and now they are proposing a law to tell airlines what they can charge for carry on luggage. By the way, the porkulus bill that was supposed to stimulate the economy tripled the debt and had nothing to do with the war. All of you liberals want to blame everyone else but yourselves with what is wrong with this country. When you point a finger, look how many fingers point back to you! 1. Boycott advertizers who advertize with CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, and all other news outlets that do NOT Report the TRUTH or NEWS for that matter.. 2. BOYCOTT Obama Motors, do NOT by the Volt or any car from Chevy or Chrysler or any other car company who took bailout money, and or is owned by the Government. Ford is the only company that did not. (for full disclosure, I do Own 2 jeeps bought long before this mess and am in the process of selling them, DO NOT buy them). I guess I'm stuck with them. 3. Write the Company's who do advertize with the News outlets and let them know you are Boycotting them and why you are. 4. Support Arizona and all other States that are standing up to the Feds to stem the flow of Illegal Aliens into our Country. 5. VOTE The only way to defeat these Commies is hit them in their Pockets. They only survive from illegal under the table payoffs from the illegal stimulus package and Earmarks, and other funding sources. That includes UNIONS (if you can, QUIT the union and pay NO MORE DUES to corrupt Union Bosses (there is a way, get together with other union members, have a lawyer draw up papers for a lawsuit to allocate your dues into an ESCROW account so the UNION's do not recieve your dues.(You are still within the law, just the Unions aren't benefiting from your labors and working against you in the big scheme of their's to control your life). We must beat them at their own game. Just like, you cannot Beat Guerrilla Warfare, using conventional Tactics, You have to get into and beat them on their level (Stand in Truth though, not lies as they do). They Lie, Cheat, and Steal. The ends Justify the Means to them. Do not let them control the debate with their lies, Stand up to them and call them on their lies with TRUTH. VOTE and watch your Polling places for fraud, voter intimidation, and any other Tactics they will use this coming election. They are Desperate (they do see the writing on the TEA PARTY WALL) and will be pulling out all their DIRTY tricks. The Black Panthers, Acorn (no they did not go away), Unions and the Left Wing Main Stream Media will be stepping up their attacks with calls of RACISM. Do Not be intimidated by them. Racism is a DEAD WORD NOW. It has no meaning anymore. It is just a meaningless word, because they have overplayed it for everything. Just like Peter and the Wolf. Let them eat themselves with their Lying Rhetoric. End of Rant (aren't you glad). Individually it can be done. Together, it is a slam dunk, and we CAN take back our CONSTITUTION AND BILL OF RIGHTS. The Tea Party (at least the Hampton Roads Tea Party group) is not endorsing one particular solution, candidate or party. We know that there are many good ideas out there, and excellent people behind them. We know that some groups have worked on these issues in a formal way for years, and perhaps feel that the Tea Party movement is eclipsing their efforts. That is not the intention of the Tea Party Movement at all. We are choosing to “major on the majors”. That is the strength and the power of the Tea Party movement. It won’t matter if it’s fair tax, no tax or flat tax if our country is bankrupted. It won’t matter if you want the Federal Reserve abolished if Congress keeps appropriating power for itself, and voters are ignored. It won’t matter how you feel about the federal funding for abortion, or the Marriage Amendment if our government usurps power and does not reverse its current path, your voice will have little impact.
